navy seals refused this order from president bush his response is moving

President George W. Bush wasn’t perfect. But he was a patriot with an unwavering respect for the military. Looking back from the Obama years, it’s hard to imagine we recently had a President who loved and supported our troops as they stomped out terrorism around the world.

His former press secretary Dana Perino, who is now a Fox News pundit, recently wrote a book called, “And the Good News is…” She describes the only time the Navy SEALs disobeyed an order from President Bush. And the reason why brought a tear to Bush’s eye. You have to read this.

According to Perino, Bush was nearing the end of his second term and was scheduled to deliver a speech to a group of SEALs in an airplane hangar.

In her account, Perino said Bush highly respected the SEALs due to the battles they had been in as a unit and how they had delivered every time the president sent them out on a mission.

The SEALs gathered together in the hangar were listening to Vice President Cheney deliver a speech when he then surprised the soldiers with an announcement that President Bush was there to see them.

As soon as Bush took the stage, the battle hardened SEALs “hooted and hollered with patriotism and appreciation.”

The president’s speech was a powerful one that acknowledged the service the SEALs had rendered to their country since the 9/11 attacks, and while this was moving, what happened next is what REALLY made Bush misty-eyed.

Here is why Bush started to tear up:

Perino said that when Bush closed his speech with his iconic, “May God bless you and may God continue to bless America,” the SEALs erupted in massive sustained cheers of praise for Bush.

And they didn’t stop.

Even after Bush ordered them to stop cheering, they continued to cheer for their leader and friend.

Perino goes on to describe how emotional Bush was at the overwhelming response. It showed how much he supports the military and the freedoms they protect. And it was a reminder that the Presidency is bigger than any one person… The Commander in Chief is a symbol for democracy around the world.

This is why America needs a strong President who is willing to support our troops and stomp out terrorism. Now, after more than six years of Obama, the Islamic State (ISIS) is stronger, Iraq is a failure, Russia is aggressive, and America is no longer taken seriously on the world stage.
